A midday stop to buy fish turned into a nightmare for a Caroni sales representative who was robbed of $17,500 in cash on Tuesday.
According to police reports, the 49-year-old had just withdrawn the money from Republic Bank’s Grand Bazaar branch around noon and was heading home when he pulled over at the Caroni roundabout near the fish vendors.
While he was out of his vehicle, a man exited a white Nissan AD Wagon (registration PDU 7011), jumped into the victim’s car without permission, and grabbed a white envelope containing the cash, which was secured in the center console.
