A delivery driver was beaten and robbed of over $56,000 in cash during a daring daylight hold-up in Mayaro on Wednesday afternoon, but swift police action led to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of the stolen money and firearm.

Police said around 2:20 p.m. the driver had just completed deliveries at Sains Pharmacy, located in the S and S Persad’s Supermarket compound on Guayaguayare Road, Mayaro.

He was seated in his panel van when two men opened the driver’s door, announced a robbery, and attacked him.
