A US national was reportedly assaulted in a violent bag-snatching incident on Prince Street, Port of Spain, on Thursday afternoon.
According to police reports, the victim was walking along Prince Street around 1:10 p.m. when a man grabbed his purple canvas bag containing $66,000, 300 US dollars, and a credit card. The thief ran north towards the George Street plannings, but the victim briefly recovered the bag.
During the attempt to reclaim it, another man allegedly seized the bag, kicked the victim, and escaped with the contents. Later, an unknown person returned the bag, which still contained the victim’s US passport.
