A Carenage driver attempting to purchase US currency from a passenger was robbed of thousands of TT dollars.
Police report the 49-year-old victim reported to police on Monday at 7 p.m. that around 5.15 p.m. that day he got a hired job by the suspect to take him to a location in San Juan for TT $300.
En route to San Juan both the victim and the suspect began conversing during which the victim enquired from the suspect whether he had any knowledge of people with US currency to purchase. The suspect told him he had access to US and agreed to exchange it at a rate of 7:1 (the current rate is about 6.7:1).
