A 40-year-old woman was robbed during a violent encounter in Port of Spain on Wednesday morning.
Police said that around 9.30 am the woman was walking along Independence Square South and crossed Edward Street, near the Central Bank, when she was approached from behind by a man.
On reaching the pavement outside the bank, the suspect tapped her on the shoulder and, when she turned around, attempted to snatch a pair of gold bangles (beras) from her right hand, valued at $20,000.
