A 57-year-old private hire taxi driver was attacked and robbed on December 22 in Couva.
Around 10:30 p.m., the driver picked up three male passengers along Eleanor Street, Chaguanas, who requested to be taken to Exchange Couva and Calcutta. Upon reaching Calcutta, one suspect, armed with an object resembling a firearm, struck the driver on the head and demanded valuables.
The suspects took a Samsung cellphone, a wallet containing identification cards and $130 in cash, as well as the driver’s white Nissan Tiida (PCS 2535) valued at $45,000. They then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle, driving east along Calcutta #1.
