A 21-year-old Matelot man is in police custody after a joint team of police, soldiers and Coast Guard officers raided a forest encampment and marijuana field on Friday afternoon.
Police said officers of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), the Regiment’s Special Forces and the Coast Guard’s Special Naval Unit (SNU) advanced about three miles into Matelot, east of Santa Cruz Road, where they found a “sizable plantation” of marijuana plants.
The officers saw two men in the field, and one of them pointed a gun at them.
