PRIME Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says she is “unbothered” by derogatory remarks made against her by former prime minister Keith Rowley and does not intend to pursue legal action against him or any media house for broadcasting or publishing it.
“It may seem on the surface that I am unbothered when Rowley and the PNM trolls say these nasty things about me. But the truth is that deep down inside, I am very, very, very unbothered,” Persad-Bissessar told TV6 News yesterday in response to questions.
At a news conference on March 17 at his Glencoe home, Rowley referred to Persad-Bissessar as a “jamette” as he accused her of failing to provide evidence to support her claim that drug money was used to construct Balisier House — the People’s National Movement (PNM) Port of Spain headquarters. Rowley used the term on three occasions during the news conference, prompting a backlash of sharp criticism from United National Congress (UNC) parliamentarians and several sectors of society.
