A 53-year-old taxi driver was hijacked by two men posing as passengers and forced to drive into a squatting settlement in San Fernando, where he was beaten and robbed on Wednesday night.
But the victim was able to engage the GPS tracking system causing the vehicle shut down in Ste Madeleine. The suspects exited the car and escaped before police officers arrived.
Police said the two suspects entered the taxi at the corner of Lord and Mucurapo Street, San Fernando, at around 9.30pm and asked to be taken to Golconda.
