A Port-of-Spain man was shot in the left knee dur­ing a botched trans­ac­tion in Mal­oney, in­volv­ing the sale of gold which had been or­gan­ised via an on­line ad­ver­tise­ment.

Po­lice said the 27-year-old of Sev­enth Street, Beetham Gar­dens, had dri­ven his 40-year-old friend of Can­taro Vil­lage, Up­per San­ta Cruz; to La Hor­quet­ta, on Oc­to­ber 24, to meet the al­leged sell­er to pur­chase a quan­ti­ty of gold that had been ad­ver­tised on Face­book Mar­ket Place.

The two vic­tims picked up two sus­pects around 10.30 am in the vicin­i­ty of the bas­ket­ball court at Phase Sev­en, where they sat talk­ing.
