Five armed men stormed Popeyes Chicken along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, Arima, on Sunday night, robbing staff of cash and valuables before escaping in a waiting vehicle.
According to police, around 9:30 p.m. employees were inside the restaurant when two gunmen confronted them in the kitchen area. Workers were ordered to lie face down, while a masked man demanded to know where the money was. The manager was pulled from the back office and forced to open the vault, from which the suspects stole $21,679 in cash.
During the ordeal, one employee was robbed of her iPhone 12 Pro, while other staff members managed to hide in storerooms and bathrooms. A security guard on duty was also held at gunpoint and ordered into the kitchen.
