A 55-year-old vice principal from St James was conned of $2,750 after attempting to buy an iPhone 15 Pro Max through Facebook Marketplace.
Police said the victim transferred the money to a Republic Bank account on October 7 while at the PriceSmart carpark, MovieTowne, Port of Spain.
The seller, who identified himself as “Andrew Fredrick”, stopped communicating after the payment was made. The phone was never delivered. PC Pariag of the St James Police Station is continuing enquiries.
