A Couva woman was robbed of $5,250 after attempting to purchase a washer and dryer advertised on Facebook Marketplace as a Black Friday deal.

The 30-year-old victim of of Balmain Gardens reported that around midday last Friday, she went to meet a man with whom she had previously spoken about the sale. The man, known to her only as “Brian,” told her he would send someone to collect the payment on his behalf.

While waiting at the corner of Eastern Main Road and 4th Avenue, San Juan, near Furniture House, the woman stood about ten feet away as the suspect approached her male relative. The relative handed over a brown envelope containing $5,250 in cash to the man.
