A 43-year-old Zimbabwean national was kidnapped at gunpoint, beaten, and robbed of valuables and cash after being forced off the Beetham Highway on Sunday afternoon.
Police said around 2 p.m., the man was driving his Honda City when he turned onto Abattoir Road and was confronted by a man armed with what appeared to be a high-powered gun. The assailant entered the victim's vehicle and ordered him to drive to Eastern Quarry.
While en route, the man struck another vehicle and was forced to stop. The suspect then pulled him from his car, took him behind a building, and bound his hands and feet. The victim told investigators he was struck multiple times on the arm with the gun.
