Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander has condemned former Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, saying he was irresponsible and reckless to claim that law enforcement in Trinidad and Tobago can kill people on suspicion.
At a news conference on Tuesday, Rowley noted that the Attorney General had obtained King’s Counsel advice stating that US kinetic strikes at sea against drug boats are lawful and suggested this was an “inducement” to law enforcement in T&T to use force on land.
Alexander told the Express that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) utilises a “use of force” policy which guides police officers on when and when not to use deadly force, in accordance with the law.
