As US marines conduct joint military exercises within Trinidad and Tobago’s waters and after Caracas accused the country is helping stage an attack against it, former prime minister Dr. Keith Rowley said today that current PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar and her government may have dragged the small, relatively unprotected nation into a potential regional conflict, and exposed its offshore platforms as a “legitimate target” in the event of military action.
The former Prime Minister this morning held a press conference following an announcement from Minister of Foreign Affairs Sean Sobers that the US’ 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit would be joining the Trinidad and Tobago Defence force this week, for military-to-military exchanges between the two.
