An 80-year-old taxi driver was robbed while plying for hire in St James on Tuesday afternoon. Police said the victim, of Upper Bournes Road, reported that around 4:10 p.m. he picked up three men at the St James taxi stand in his Nissan Almera.
After two of the men exited along Tragarete Road, the remaining passenger ordered Rubain to turn onto a road opposite the Coconut Growers Association on the Eastern Main Road, announced a robbery, and stole two cellphones valued at $1,600 and $2,050 in cash. The suspect then fled.
Besson Street police recorded the report.
