A 38-year-old businessman of Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara (WBD), was on Saturday taken into custody for allegedly threatening to shoot a construction worker during an argument. Police stated that a 28-year-old construction worker of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), was driving a motor vehicle along the Pouderoyen Public Road, WBD when he came across the businessman, who was on a motorcycle. The two men then engaged in a heated argument, which ultimately led to an altercation in which the businessman whipped out a firearm, pointed it in the direction of the construction worker and threatened to shoot him. The man became fearful for his life and reported the matter, thus leading to the arrest of the businessman, who was found to be in possession of a licensed .32 Taurus pistol. However, the firearm, along with a magazine containing 11 rounds of matching ammunition, was lodged as investigations continue. The businessman remains in police custody.
