A 33-year-old construction worker from Alexander Village, Georgetown, and a 41-year-old man from Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD), were taken into custody following the discovery of a firearm and ammunition during a Police operation at Independence Boulevard, Georgetown, on Wednesday.
Based on reports received, Police, acting on information obtained, conducted a search at a bar on Independence Boulevard, during which one Sig Sauer 9mm pistol, along with a magazine containing 19 live rounds of matching ammunition, was found on the ground of the premises.
The two suspects, who were at the bar at the time, were arrested and escorted to the Ruimveldt Police Station along with the firearm and ammunition. They remain in custody pending further investigation and charges.
