Police are investigating a rape and robbery that occurred in El Socorro on Wednesday evening.
The 15-year-old female victim, a Venezuelan national, was walking along Ward Lane around 10.30 pm after visiting a friend, when she encountered two men. One of the suspects, armed with a knife, confronted her, demanding her handbag, which contained a Samsung A14 cellphone valued at $800.
The suspects then forced the victim to follow them to an open yard leading to an apartment, where they sexually assaulted her. Following the attack, the suspects allowed her to leave. She was able to flag down a taxi, and the driver took her to the Barataria Police Station around 11.15 pm.
