(Kaieteur News) – A masked gunman staged a daring pre-dawn home invasion at Lamaha Springs on Wednesday, escaping with $4 million in cash and a gold chain valued at $3.8 million belonging to a 49-year-old gold miner.
The robbery occurred around 4:30 a.m., after the victim had secured his two-storey concrete home shortly before midnight on Tuesday. According to police, the man told investigators that he was awakened by an intruder pointing a firearm at his face and demanding money.
Fearing for his life, the victim complied and opened a safe located inside a built-in closet in his bedroom.
