A night out on Ariapita Avenue took a frightening turn for a Carapichima woman on Tuesday when a thief snatched her gold chain outside Shangri-La Bar , but her boyfriend was quick to give chase through the streets of Woodbrook.

Police said around 11:50 p.m., the woman was standing outside the popular bar when a man dressed in a black jersey and cap ran up and ripped the chain from her neck. He was accompanied by another man wearing a white hoodie, and both fled west along Ariapita Avenue.

The victim called her boyfriend, who was nearby. He pursued the suspects down Gallus Street and onto Warner Street, continuing the chase until he spotted one of the men near the Little Carib Theatre. He alerted officers on mobile patrol from the Woodbrook Police Station, Sgt Roberts and WPC George, who responded.
