Quick action by civilians and the police led to the arrest of a suspect moments after a violent robbery in downtown San Fernando on Monday morning.
It happened at around 10:05 a.m. on Mucurapo Street, when a woman was violently attacked and robbed of several items of jewellery, including a gold chain valued at $8,000, a bera worth $10,000, and a wristlet valued at $300.
The victim, a 38-year-old woman from Marabella, had just returned to her parked vehicle when a man approached her from behind and placed his hand around her neck, pulling her backward, choking her. He warned her not to make noise, saying, “Doh make no noise, is ah robbery.”
