At least four people were hospitalised Friday night following a crash on Manahambre Road, Ste. Madeleine, reportedly caused by a gaping hole left on a busy road at a blind corner.
According to reports, motorists using the road connecting Princes Town to San Fernando had observed a work crew digging to repair a pipeline over the past week. While the hole was initially covered after the work was completed, it soon developed into a deep depression.
Drivers heading east reportedly had to swerve into the oncoming lane to avoid the hazard. Police say this maneuver is how the crash occurred around 8 p.m. near the Usine/Ste. Madeleine pond.
