Attorney General John Jeremie says the home invasion legislation does not target any particular race or socio-economic class, but instead seeks to ensure protection for all citizens.
He gave this assurance as he piloted the Home Invasion (Self Defence and Defence of Property) Bill, 2025, at yesterday’s sitting of the Senate.
The bill, which requires a simple majority, was passed in the House of Representatives last week and was set to be passed in the Senate yesterday after a marathon debate.
