Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says Home Invasion legislation places the rights of law-abiding citizens first and sends a clear message that attacks on homes won’t be tolerated.
The Home Invasion (Self-Defence and Defence of Property) Bill, 2025 was passed in the House of Representatives shortly before midnight on Wednesday after almost ten hours of debate.
A total of 23 Government members voted in favour, while ten members of the People’s National Movement (PNM) voted against.
