Police are investigating the death of a full-term infant after an incident at a hotel in the Centre of Excellence on Saturday.
Reports indicate that around 1:00 p.m., a woman of Oak Drive, Arouca, was at the hotel with a friend when she experienced abdominal pain and went to the bathroom. She later reported feeling what she described as a flushing from her body, unaware that she had given birth, until hotel security personnel alerted her.
Security staff immediately contacted emergency services and the woman’s mother. The ambulance did not arrive in time, and the woman was subsequently taken by her mother to the Mt. Hope Women’s Hospital, arriving around 3:00 p.m. The Arouca Police were notified at 4:15 p.m. by hospital doctors.
