A Sangre Grande woman has taken the first step in legal proceedings against the North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) over what she claims was the traumatic delivery of her premature baby at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, in March, which ended in the infant’s death.
Attorney Ashley Badal issued a pre-action protocol letter to NCRHA’s CEO Davlin Thomas on August 28.
According to her attorney, the woman was 26 weeks pregnant when she was admitted to the hospital on March 17 for pain and bleeding. She underwent a procedure to prevent premature birth two days later, but continued to experience severe pain, which she repeatedly reported to staff.
