The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has extended the High Wind and Hazardous Seas Alerts (both at Yellow Level) until 12 PM on 18 February.
According to a TTMS release, “Strong low-level winds continue to produce breezy to windy conditions over T&T, with some areas recording gusts near 50 km/h.” The Hazardous Seas Alert remains in effect as these winds contribute to rough sea conditions.
The TTMS release also said, “There remains a high potential for gusts exceeding 50 km/h, especially near showers.” These strong gusts, though brief, can affect poorly built structures and topple trees. The TTMS has advised the public to secure loose outdoor objects and livestock.
