ALL hopes by business couple Dominic and Genevieve Hadeed that they would have been released from prison on Thursday were dashed after a late-night ruling by the Appeal Court resulted in them having to remain in jail until at least Friday afternoon.
Hours after another Appeal Court panel ordered that the business couple be released from prison and placed under strict house arrest, attorneys representing the State returned to the appellate court seeking a stay of execution of the ruling pending a further appeal at the Privy Council.
The application, which was filed late yesterday, came up for hearing at 8 p.m., before Chief Justice Ronnie Boodoosingh and Justices of Appeal Mark Mohammed and Ricky Rahim.
