Police are investigating an early morning shooting that occurred during an attempted break-in at a home at Foster Road, on Monday.

Around 3a.m., a 32-year-old woman was asleep with her 49-year-old boyfriend when she was startled by the sound of someone tampering with the back door, followed by glass breaking. The boyfriend armed himself with a baseball bat and waited.

Moments later, the woman saw a hand pushing through the slightly open bedroom door. Her boyfriend struck it with the bat, and two explosions were heard. The couple did not see anyone holding a firearm, and the woman secured herself in the bedroom.
