Police are investigating an armed robbery in which over $275,000 worth of gold jewellery was allegedly stolen from a 57-year-old Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) employee outside the Tacarigua Regional Complex on Wednesday morning.
According to police reports, around 6:30 a.m. the victim was seated in front of the complex’s lobby area when two men approached. One of the suspects pulled out a firearm and announced a robbery.
The victim handed over several pieces of jewellery and personal belongings before the assailants fled on foot. Items reported stolen include a Spanish link gold chain with a cross pendant bearing the face of Jesus, four Cuban link gold chains, four gold rings, a gold beera, and a brown wallet containing approximately $500, two Scotiabank cards, an identification card, and a driver’s permit.
