Five men who acÂcused the State of failÂing to proÂtect them against sexÂuÂal and physÂiÂcal abuse at a chilÂdren’s home in BelÂmont decades ago have filed a lawÂsuit suÂing the RoÂman Catholic Church and the State.
In a lawÂsuit filed on OcÂtoÂber 8, the men are suÂing the St DoÂminic’s ChilÂdren’s Home (alÂso reÂferred to as the BelÂmont OrÂphanÂage), the RoÂman Catholic ArchÂdioÂcese in Port-of-Spain, the AtÂtorÂney GenÂerÂal, the StatuÂtoÂry AuÂthorÂiÂties SerÂvice ComÂmisÂsion, and a forÂmer emÂployÂee at the chilÂdren’s home who was latÂer charged with bugÂgery, atÂtemptÂed bugÂgery and seÂriÂous inÂdeÂcenÂcy.
