The United States’ highest ranking military officer arrives in Trinidad and Tobago today to meet with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

General Dan Caine is the 22nd Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the US nation’s highest-ranking military officer, and the principal military advisor to the US President, Secretary of War, and National Security Council.

The visit of General Caine comes as Washington maintains its largest military deployment in the Caribbean in decades, and as questions about the extent of US operations near the country’s territory remain unanswered.
