What exactly was discussed behind closed doors when chairman of the United States (US) Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine met with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and several ministers at the Diplomatic Centre in Port of Spain yesterday?
Following the meeting between the United States’ highest-ranking military officer and the T&T Government team statements were promptly issued by both sides. They were however short on details and couched in diplomatic language, leaving citizens to speculate on what really was discussed and what commitments, if any, were made by Government in the midst of heightened tension between the US and Venezuela and with several warships in the region.
