Even as the United States’ top military officer General Dan Caine arrived in Trinidad and Tobago yesterday, just miles away across the Gulf of Paria demonstrations were taking place in the streets of Venezuela decrying any escalation of the conflict in the region.
In Caracas, at least three streets in the Capital were reportedly closed to facilitate a five-kilometre “grand” march organised by Venezuela’s United Socialist Party (PSUV).
Hundreds walked through the nation’s capital, some in military attire, others holding Venezuelan flags and beating drums. They sang and danced as they moved through the streets while multiple speakers urged loyalty to the Venezuelan flag. Venezuelan Justice Minister and regime strongman, Diosdado Cabello, was also in attendance. As they gathered, one speaker told the crowds that the people of Venezuela would never surrender.
