The South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) has launched an internal investigation into allegations that a first-time mother delivered her premature baby on a bed in a ward at a public health facility, and that the baby did not receive immediate care.

This, followed a video circulating on social media showing the young woman lying on a hospital bed with her newborn baby inside what looked like a pouch, on top of her.

The person recording the video was heard calling on doctors at the health facility to help the premature baby boy. She said nothing was being done to help the child.
