THE South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) and the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH) are facing legal action following the death of a premature baby, born alive at 24 weeks and four days gestation, and who died two weeks later.
Lawyers representing the baby’s mother have issued a pre-action protocol letter, alleging “inhumane, degrading and medically negligent treatment” of both mother and child between March 12 and April 4, 2025.
The pre-action letter, addressed to SWRHA CEO Dr Brian Armour, paints a picture of systemic failures, claiming the hospital “deliberately treated our client as an inevitable miscarriage case” from the outset, leading to the death.
