(Kaieteur News) – A taxi driver attached to Reliable Taxi Service was killed in the early hours of Wednesday when his car collided with a truck along the railway embankment at Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara.
He was identified as Emanuel Paul, 28, of Alberttown, Georgetown. Police said the collision occurred around 01:45hrs as Paul was heading north, exiting the Goedverwagting Access Road, while the truck was traveling west along the railway embankment.
The impact left Paul pinned inside his car. Firefighters had to cut him free, but he was already unresponsive by the time they reached him. Emergency medical technicians pronounced him dead at the scene, and undertakers moved his body to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
