(Kaieteur News) – The two drivers involved in the three-vehicle collision at Providence, East Bank Demerara, which claimed one life and left several others injured, were on Monday remanded to prison for causing death by dangerous driving.
The defendants: Kord Sobers, 55, of La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, the driver of motor lorry #GAF 1093, and Colin Cumberbatch, 31, of Kitty, Georgetown, the driver of minibus #BAH 9443, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court, where the indictable charges were read to them.
They were charged in relation to the fatal accident which occurred on Saturday 20th June, 2026, on Providence Public Road. The accident resulted in the death of Ruddy Raymond, a 36-year-old resident of Jonestown, Lima, Essequibo Coast.
