A taxi driver was attacked and robbed while on duty in Penal on Thursday afternoon, sustaining minor injuries during a struggle with the assailant.
The 58-year-old of Penal Rock Road, reported that around 1p.m., he picked up a male passenger while driving his Nissan Almera along Penal Rock Road, near the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Two female passengers were also in the back seat.
According to police, the male passenger, described as a slim-built man in his early twenties with an Afro hairstyle, wearing a pink jersey and grey shorts, brandished a small pink-handled knife and demanded money. There was a struggle and the driver sustained cuts and abrasions to his face, abdomen, arm, and back. He managed to escape with his female passengers to a nearby house and contacted authorities.
