A courier who made a false report to police that his employer's vehicle was broken into and $10,000 stolen was discovered to have spent some of the money on his bills.
According to a police report, on Sunday around 11 a.m. the 37-year-old driver from Cumuto who works for a cellphone retail company visited the Sangre Grande Police Station. He reported that he went to seek medical attention around 8 a.m. that day at the Sangre Grande Hospital. He further reported that he parked his employer’s white Nissan Serena HDD 409 at Katwaroo Trace, Sangre Grande, and went away.
He claimed that when he returned around 10 a.m. he observed the dashboard tampered with and the dash stereo missing, a S21 Samsung cellular phone valued at $1500 missing, and $10,000 in cash missing. The monies were collected by him on behalf of his employer, and the cellular phone was to be delivered to a client.
