Police are investigating a larceny in Maraval after a large sum of cash and personal items were stolen from a vehicle on Friday morning.
Authorities reported that the victim had withdrawn $76,000 in cash from Republic Bank, Ellerslie Plaza, Maraval for a home renovation project. The money was handed to a contractor who placed it in an envelope along with other items, including clothing, a USB cord, tablets, and a lunch bag, valued at approximately $600 in total.
Police said that around 11 a.m., the contractor left the lunch bag on the back seat of his car in the parking lot of the bank, while he left to use the toilet. Upon returning about seven minutes later, he discovered that the rear left window had been smashed and the bag was missing.
