Police in Barataria are investigating a morning armed robbery involving a courier who was carrying $13,000 in cash for his company.
Around 8 a.m. on Thursday, a 75-year-old courier arrived at Republic Bank San Juan to make a deposit and withdrawal on behalf of his employer. Around 8:45 a.m., after returning to his company premises, he noticed a silver Nissan Tiida reversing behind his vehicle.
Two men clad in dark clothing, one armed with a firearm, exited the Tiida, pointed the gun at the victim, and announced a robbery. One suspect cuffed the victim in the face while the other took an envelope containing $13,000 in cash. The suspects then fled in the Tiida along Chootoo Road.
