A traffic stop turned dangerous last night when a silver Nissan Tiida struck a police officer before fleeing the scene in Trincity.
Around 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Police Constable Ferdinand, in company with Sergeant Grant, was visiting stations in the North Central Division when they received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Bealeau Avenue area. The officers approached a silver Nissan Tiida parked along 5th Street East, Trincity.
Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated and collided with Sergeant Grant, causing him to fall onto the vehicle’s bonnet, roll onto the windshield, and land on the roadway. He sustained injuries to multiple parts of his body and was conveyed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for treatment.
