The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has issued a warning to members of the public against participating in a proposed “Walk for Peace” scheduled to take place in Port of Spain today, saying no authorisation has been granted for the event under the current State of Emergency regulations.
In a statement on Wednesday, the TTPS said it was aware of a flyer circulating on social media promoting the event, which was scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
While expressing support for legitimate initiatives aimed at promoting peace, reducing violence and encouraging community engagement, the police stressed that all public gatherings, marches, processions and assemblies remain subject to strict legal requirements and security assessments during the State of Emergency.
