A 39-year-old was defrauded of cash and his phone after being hired for a trip to Port-of-Spain on Saturday afternoon.
Police reported that the victim of Mile End Village, was plying his vehicle for hire along the Mayaro–Grand Lagoon route around 12:45 p.m. when a suspect hired him at Independence Square, near the cathedral.
The driver handed over $3,600 with the understanding that the amount would be exchanged for US currency. The suspect then directed the driver to the Curepe area, where he handed over an additional $1,500.
