The Me­te­o­ro­log­i­cal Ser­vice has is­sued an ad­verse weath­er alert (yel­low lev­el) for Trinidad, in ef­fect from 11 am to 6 pm to­day.

Fore­cast­ers say there is a 40 to 60 per cent chance of thun­der­storms with heavy rain­fall, gusty winds and light­ning, es­pe­cial­ly in hilly and west­ern ar­eas. Pos­si­ble im­pacts in­clude flash flood­ing, lo­calised pond­ing, land­slips and land­slides, as well as loose ob­jects be­ing dis­placed.

The pub­lic is ad­vised to re­main alert, avoid flood-prone ar­eas, and not to dri­ve through flood­wa­ters. Mo­torists and res­i­dents in ar­eas prone to flood­ing or land­slides should ex­er­cise cau­tion.
