Teen motorcyclist killed in Eccles crash

(Kaieteur News) – Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Wednesday, 7th October, 2026, at about 16:00 hrs on Eccles Access Road, also known as Dumpsite Road, East Bank Demerara, involving motorcycle CL 5461, driven by 16-year-old Vitor Leca-De Alencar of Green Acres, East Bank Demerara.

Initial enquiries revealed that the motorcycle was proceeding west along the southern carriageway of Eccles Access Road at a reportedly fast rate of speed when the rider lost control while negotiating a right-hand bend and collided with a lamp pole on the median separating the two carriageways.

As a result of the collision, Alencar fell onto the roadway and sustained injuries to his head and other parts of his body.
