A joint drug eradication exercise at Wiruni Village along the Upper Berbice River on Tuesday led to the discovery of six acres of cultivated marijuana fields, comprising some 80,000 cannabis plants ranging from two feet to five feet in height.
In addition, a quantity of dried cannabis weighing approximately 10 pounds and a makeshift camp measuring 20 feet by 10 feet were also discovered.
The cannabis plants were reportedly uprooted and destroyed by fire, along with the dried cannabis and makeshift camp.
